AGP protest against land swap deal

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 9 Members of the regional Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi all over the State, in protest against their roles in endorsing the Indo-Bangla land swap deal.

In a joint statement here, AGP general secretaries Ramendra Narayan Kalita and Dr Kamala Kalita alleged that the BJP and the Central government led by it have mocked at the sentiments of the people of Assam on the issue of handing over Assams land to Bangladesh.

Thus, the Central Government has cast aspersions on the people of the State. This is also an act of treason, said the regional party leaders.

The BJP has followed in the footsteps of the Congress to attract the votes of the illegal Bangla migrants and hurt the territorial integrity of the State.

The AGP will continue with its efforts at uniting the people of the State against all such acts of treason, said the AGP leaders.
