AGP observes foundation day in Barpeta, Tihu

BARPETA, Oct 15 - Asom Gana Parishad observed its 36 th foundation day across the district with a series of programmes. Barpeta Bidhan Parishad committee organised a day-long programme in the Tarun Ram Phookan Hall here. Member of Legislative Assembly from Barpeta Assembly constituency, Gunindra Nath Das and president of the Barpeta district committee and several other leaders attended the function .

Addressing a meeting held on the occasion, Dhanjit Pathak president of the Barpeta Bidhan Parishad Committee observed that Barpeta will be retained by the party in 2021 election due to to clean image created by incumbent MLA Gunindra Nath Das. Pathak claimed that the proposed alliance between the Congress and the AIUDF will benefit the party in Barpeta.

Fifteen persons including three posthumously who faced atrocities during the Assam Agitation were felicitated in the meeting.

Sarukshetri Assembly Constituency committee observed the day at Astaprahar ground Kurihar Pam in the district. Chittaranjan Barman, president of the committee hoisted the party flag followed by tributes to the martyrs by senior party worker Golak Deka.

Addressing the open meeting held on this occasion, Abhay Barman, member of the central executive committee of the party said that AGP is dedicated towards the interest of the people of the state. Abubakkar Siddik member of the general council of the perty read out a speech of the party president and the working president Atul Bora and Keshab Mahanta . Organising secretary of the district committee Mainuddin Ahmed, secretary of the Assembly committee Girin Roy , senior worker Garganarayan Pathak and Bhabendranath Das also addressed the meeting which was chaired by Chittranjan Barman.

The day was also observed by Chenga, Bhabanipur, Sarbhog, Patacharkuchi and Baghbar assembly constituency committee .

The programme began at 9 am with the unfurling of party�s flag by Jiten Das, president, AGP, 62 no Barama Bidhan parishad while swahid tarpan and lightimg of earthen lamps on the potrait of Swahid Bedi were performed by Sarbananda Sarma, president, AGP, Pachim Nuborbhag Anchalik sammitte and Illora Deka, president, Pachim Nimborbhag gaon panchayat respectively. The open meeting chaired by Jiten Das and it was attended by Amal Narayan Patowary, central organising secretary, Pabindra Deka, retired teacher , Ananda Rajbanshi, president, Nalbari Zila Sammittee, Keshab Deka, secretary, Nalbari Zila Samittee, Gopal Talukdar, president, Nathkuchi Gaon panchayat, Surendra Nath Kalita, ex- president, Barama Bidhan Parishad and Pranjal kr Sarania, secretary, Barama bidhan parishad as appointed guests. The meeting also felicited two eminent AGP leaders -- Surendra Nath Kalita of Haribhanga and Dandidhar Kalita of Bali village.
