By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Feb 19 Members of the regional Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in protest against his alleged shielding of the corrupt ministers whose involvement has been indicated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the Rs 1,000 crore NC Hills Autonomous Council scam.

The AGP members also demanded removal of the tainted ministers and a CBI inquiry into the allegations of their involvement in the NC Hills scam.

AGP chief spokesman Atul Bora told this newspaper this evening that the Chief Ministers bid to shield his tainted ministerial colleagues became evident through his utterances made at the press conference here today. The Chief Minister also refused to engage the CBI to probe the allegations against his ministers, Bora said.

He reiterated the partys demands for a CBI inquiry into the allegations of involvement of the States ministers in the NC Hills scam, removal of the ministers and making public the assets and liabilities of the States ministers.
