AGP leader Kushal Mech passes away

SIVASAGAR, Dec 10 - Prominent leader of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), former president of the Mech Kachari Jatiya Parishad, retired geologist of the ONGC and executive member of the All India ONGC SC/ST Welfare Committee, Kushal Mech passed away in a Dibrugarh hospital yesterday. He was 62.

Mech was also the president of the Janajati Kristi Sangha, an executive member of NEIST Foundation, and president of the Hanhchora Junior College governing body.

He leaves behind his wife, three sons and a daughter.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, in a message, mourned his death and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family.

His death has been mourned by several organizations of Sivasagar, including Rashtriya Mazdoor Sangha, AASU, AJYCP, ATASU, Me Dam Me Phi Udjapan Samiti, CPI, INTUC, Sankardev Abirbhab Mahotsav Udjapan Samiti, ONGC Workers� Association, Rongpurjyoti Club, Sivasagar District Journalists� Association, Gramya Sambadik Santha, Ellora Vigyan Mancha, and Brihattar Asomiya Yuva Samaj. His last rites were performed in his native village, Haripara Kochari Gaon, Hanhchora.
