AGP launches door-to-door campaign

BARPETA, Aug 17 - The Burha Satriya of Barpeta Satra, Bashishtha Deva Sarma blessed the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) to be able to wrest power in the 2016 Assembly elections in the State. He conveyed his message to a group of party workers who visited him as part of the regional party�s door-to-door campaign �Ghare Ghare Agopo�.

The campaign led by its district committee president Gunindra Nath Das consisted of a few district and Barpeta constituency leaders. Dr Amiya Mahanta, chairperson of the Asom Mahila Parishad, accompanied them as the central observer. They visited 20 families today, the first day of the campaign, which also included those of cultural activist Gokul Pathak, writer Akshay Kumar Mishra and a martyr.

In Sarukshetri Assembly constituency, the ambitious campaign to grab power in the 2016 election was led by Chittaranjan Barman, secretary of the district committee. Amiya Talukdar, central executive committee member, accompanied the party leaders as the central observer.

According to information provided by Gunindra Nath Das, the campaign was also launched in the Sarbhog and Chenga constituencies. He stated that a large number of party workers and local leaders joined the campaign. He expressed the hope that with the sole aim of �educating� the people about the misrule of the State and Central governments, they will be able to reach almost all the families of the district.

TINSUKIA: To revive its old glory as well as to popularise the party among the masses, the AGP launched its 100-day programme of �house to house contact� in Tinsukia district today.

At Tinsukia, the programme was started at Ward Nos. 1 and 2 of the Tinsukia municipality by the district committee president, Prabin Dutta in the presence of Bani Changmai, secretary, AGP central committee as observer.

As per the programme, office-bearers of booth committees in each constituency � Tinsukia, Digboi, Margherita, Sadiya and Doomdooma � will contact the voters at their homes and apprise them of the future plans and programmes of the party. They will also explain the voters how both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party have betrayed the people of the State.
