AGP floats student wing Asom Chatra Parishad

GUWAHATI, Nov 21 - Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), the State�s largest regional party and an ally of the BJP-led State government, today formally launched its student wing Asom Chatra Parishad here in the presence of its leadership. The student wing has come after about 34 years of formation of the AGP.

Speaking on the occasion, AGP president and Agriculture Minister Atul Bora said that the main aim of the Asom Chatra Parishad is to bring about a positive change in society. It will work in every sector related to the student community of the State.

Water Resources Minister and senior AGP leader Keshab Mahanta conveyed his best wishes to the newly-formed organisation. He urged the members of the student wing to work in a unique way for development of society. He added that every student would have to shoulder various responsibilities of society in the near future. He also appealed to the student wing to take a constructive stand on any issue related the Assamese society.

In his speech senior party leader and Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury said the student wing would strengthen the AGP.

Other senior leaders of the party also spoke on the occasion. Meanwhile, the newly-formed student organisation today formed a committee with Trinayan Barua as president.
