GUWAHATI, March 19 - NDA constituent Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has finalized its candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Sources in the regional party said that former AASU vice president Mani Madhav Mahanta will be the party�s nominee from the Kaliabor seat, while senior leader and former Rajya Sabha member Kumar Deepak Das will contest from Barpeta and former MLA Zabed Islam will be the AGP candidate from Dhubri constituency.
The AGP�s list of candidates will be released soon, sources added.
Meanwhile, Mahanta, who recently resigned from the students� body, will formally join AGP tomorrow.
Mahanta, who is the brother of AGP working president and State Minister Keshab Mahanta, will join the regional party during a function at its Ambari headquarters here.
As part of the seat-sharing agreement among the NDA allies, senior partner BJP will contest from 10 out of the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies from Assam, while three seats (Kaliabor, Barpeta and Dhubri) have been allotted to the AGP and one seat (Kokrajhar) to the BPF.
