GUWAHATI, Dec 19 � The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today condemned the threat issued to its general secretary and chief spokesman Atul Bora by Independent legislator Jiten Gogoi as an undemocratic act. The party has demanded immediate action on the part of the district and State administrations in this connection.
The party said in a statement here that the in the face of erosion in his support base in his constituency, Gogoi has issued in public a threat to Bora's life. This exposes the state of affairs in the law and order front during the rule of Congress Government in the State, said the party.
Moreover, the police have remained indifferent even after 24 hours of Bora's filing a complaint with them. This proves the Congress' provocation in the matter.
Meanwhile, the Asom Yuba Parishad, the youth wing of the party has decided to hold workshops at constituency and district levels. It has also decided to form yuba bahini at constituency level and to prepare separate action plan to attract the youths towards regionalism, said a statement of the Yuba Parishad.
