MORIGAON, Aug 1 - The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and CPI will support to the Tiwa Jatiya Aikya Mancha candidates in the forthcoming Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) elections, to be held on August 19.

In a separate press statements both the parties said that to defeat the Congress and BJP in TAC poll both the parties took the decision in the party level. However, AGP has fielded four candidates in four seats with common consensus with Tiwa Jatiya Aikya Mancha.

AGP general secretary Ramendra Narayan Kalita in Guwahati said the AGP has been working for the political rights and development of the indigenous communities of the State for quite a long time.

The party has held discussions with several organisations of the ethnic groups with the aim of working with them unitedly. The decision to extend support to the Tiwa Jatiya Aikya Mancha was adopted by the AGP to help the former win the TAC elections with a thumping majority, said Kalita.
