AGP call to uproot Cong

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, March 15 - The AGP today appealed to the people of the State to uproot the Congress through a united fight.

In a statement here, AGP president Atul Bora said the Congress has deceived the people on the issue of implementation of the Assam Accord and thus, insulted the 855 martyrs of the Assam agitation.

The Congress has also failed to update the NRC in time, while Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has not made any attempt to implement 250 schemes out of the 450 he had announced in his budget speeches as Finance Minister.

Gogoi had also assured of absorption of one lakh job seekers in the education department during his third term as CM, but in fact he has not done anything.

Again, the Congress has deceived the six ethnic groups of the State by not fulfilling its promise to facilitate their acquiring ST status for the past 15 years, Bora said.

The Gogoi government had adopted a resolution to spend Rs 600 crore on strengthening dykes. Despite the expiry of the life of around 90 per cent of the States dykes, the government has not done anything to implement the resolution.

The Gogoi government has also deceived the people with the politics of laying foundation stones of various projects. Besides, the announcement made in the 2009 budget for setting up medical colleges in Dhubri, Diphu and Nagaon, the foundation stone of the Rajiv Gandhi Petroleum Institute laid by the then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in 2011, the technical university announced to be set up in Nagaon etc., have remained nonstarters, Bora said.

The Gogoi government has ruined the States finances by misappropriating the money of the State exchequer and deceived the tea garden workers too on the issue of hike in their wages, said the AGP president.
