AGP-BJP alliance not to affect BPF: Hagrama

KOKRAJHAR, March 13 - BPF supremo and BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary today in a steering committee meeting of the party here said that the alliance of the AGP with the BJP is not going to bring any benefit or loss to the BPF party in Kokrajhar seat and the existing tie-up of the BJP and BPF shall continue.

Replying to a question, Mohilary informed that the date of submission of nomination papers will soon be decided by the BPF steering committee. He said that the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat is a significant one consisting of ten LACs and the BPF shall begin its first campaign from March 25 next at Gossaigaon with and similar campaigns will be held at each of the ten LAC�s under Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat. This apart public gatherings will also be held for each polling centre respectively.

Talking to mediapersons just after the steering committee meeting held at Aronai complex here, he said that the decision to field Pramila Rani Brahma as the party candidate for the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat was taken yesterday at Barama in Baksa district in the CWC meeting of the party.

He also said that BPF has decided to contest the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat alone as an ally of BJP while in the Mangaldai seat it will support the BJP�s candidate.

At the same time he pointed out that the alliance of the AGP with the BJP is not going to affect the BPF in Kokrajhar seat and the existing tie-up of the BJP and BPF shall continue.

He further revealed that the main fight will be against the ABSU-backed candidate for the ensuing election in this seat. He also refuted that no such contest is going to take place against any other candidate in the fray except the ABSU-backed candidate.

Meanwhile, the BPF today constituted a 50-member election steering committee with Kiren Ch Basumatary as the chairman and Santola Basumatary as the chief convener.
