By Spl Correspondent

NEW DELHI, Dec 8 Stepping up their campaign against Gogoi Government, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today urged the Prime Minister to order a special audit of the two other autonomous district councils of Karbi Anglong and Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).

A delegation of the regional party headed by its president, Chandra Mohan Patowary and comprising Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, Phani Bhusan Choudhury, Atul Bora, Biren Baishya, Kumar Deepak Das, Joseph Toppo and Sarbananda Sonowal amongst others began their Delhi campaign by calling on the Prime Minister and Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj at the Parliament House this afternoon.

On day two, the regional party plans to stage a dharna at Jantar Mantar pressing for Chief Minister Tarun Gogois resignation.

Talking to this newspaper, Sonowal said they have submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister asking him to call for a special inspection of the accounts of the two other autonomous councils, as they suspect massive financial bungling.

On the North Cachar Autonomous Hill District Council financial scam, the AGP delegation demanded that Centre should direct the State Government to initiate action against the guilty officials responsible for the irregularities pointed out in the special audit report. The delegation also called for dismissal of the Chief Minister.

The Prime Minister reportedly said he would look into the demands.

In their meeting with the Leader of the Opposition delegation briefed Swaraj about the AG report and the least reports of scams surfacing in Karbi Anglong district council, as well. The AGP wanted the main opposition BJP to rake up the issue at the national level.

Sawaraj, said Sonowal assured that the BJP would raise the issue outside the Parliament, because of the current stalemate. She confirmed that the BJP has already decided to take up involvement of the Congress government in corruption.

The AGP delegation later met CPI- M general secretary, Prakash Karat and held discussions about the special audit report.

Significantly, the meeting assumes significance because the Left parties are pressing the regional party to join the third front.
