Agitating Cong workers arrested in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, Nov 8 - Police today arrested over 100 Congress workers including former Ministers� Prithibi Majhi, Atuwa Munda and Pranati Phukan from RKB Path after they staged blockade of the road as mark of protest against various failures and policies of the BJP-led governments, both at the Centre and the State.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) vice presidents � Numal Borah, Meena Teli, former MLA Raju Sahu and APCC members � Dhrubajyoti Gogoi, Diganta Hazarika, Rekha Munda, Pranjal Ghatowar and Dibrugarh District Congress Committee general secretary Rajkumar Nilanetra Neog were also among those arrested.

The protest was organised under the aegis of DDCC led by its president Atuwa Munda. The protestors used banners and placards as they raised anti-BJP slogans. They condemned the government for failing to check price rise, unemployment and economic slowdown. The Congress party also criticised the government for downsizing government jobs, promoting privatisation and for their anti-Assamese policies.
