Aggrieved LP teachers to launch stir

GUWAHATI, Oct 19 - The lower primary teachers of the State under the banner of Assam State Lower Primary Teacher Association are going in for a series of protests in the coming days in support of their various demands. The protests will be held as part of the national-level agitation called by the Akhil Bharatiya Prathamik Sikshak Sangha.

General secretary of the association Ratul Chandra Goswami said that the protests will be held in three phases. In the first phase, lower primary teachers will carry out a protest in their respective blocks. In the second phase, the protest will be held in every respective district headquarters and in the third phase a central protest programme will be held in Guwahati.

The demands include withdrawal of the new pension rule, regularisation of jobs of all contractual teachers, exclusion of all anti-teacher provisions from the new education policy, rectification of issues related to teacher recruitment examinations, implementation of the seventh pay rule, etc.

Goswami said if the government does not respond to the demands, the teachers of the country would stage a protest in New Delhi.
