AGCL golden jubilee celebration from today

DULIAJAN, March 29 � The State Government�s leading profit making PSU and a pioneer in natural gas marketing business in India, Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL) is celebrating its golden jubilee celebration tomorrow at its headquarter here.

The Assam Gas Company Ltd, which is completing 50 years of its service to the nation on March 31, is celebrating the occasion with a commemoration function tomorrow and the following day. Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi will be at the AGCL playground as the chief guest accompanied by local Member of Parliament and Union State Minister of DoNER, Paban Singh Ghatowar and State Industries, Commerce and Power, Minister Pradyut Bordoloi as the guests of honour.

The AGCL was incorporated and registered with the Registrar of Companies as per the Company�s Act, 1956 as a State Government Undertaking on March 31, 1962. In 1962, the head office of the AGCL was established in Shillong, the then capital of Assam and started distribution of LPG as a dealer of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) in 1969, initially at Guwahati and in 1971 in Shillong. At present the AGCL is supplying gas to more than 23,000 domestic consumers in various towns and cities of Upper Assam besides transporting and distributing more than 6 million standard cubic metres of gas per day through its major steel pipeline network of more than 1,000 km and spur lines of polyethylene of around 30,000 km to various consumers like BVFCL, NTPS, North Eastern Power Corporation, Assam Petrochemicals Ltd, small industries, hotels and restaurants.
