AGCL announces compensation to blast victims

DIBRUGARH, Sept 2 � Taking responsibility for the gas pipeline blast in Hingrijan Tea Estate in Sivasagar district yesterday, the Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL) authorities last night got the victims of the explosion shifted to Astha private nursing home at Graham Baazar here for exclusive handling of the burn cases.

AGCL authorities told The Assam Tribune that the company was ready to release Rs 25,000 to the kin of those dead, Rs 15,000 for those injured and Rs 5,000 for those with minor injuries as emergency money. Deepak Chetia Phukan, Senior Manager, (Human Resource & Administration), AGCL said that the company would announce ex-gratia payment to the victims after holding a meeting of the Board of Directors of the company. �Compensation for all the losses including crops, cattle, tea bushes and living houses, caused due to the blast, will be made,� Phukan said.
