GUWAHATI, Sept 30 - Assam and Manipur cruised into the men�s team championship final of the IA&AD North East Zone Table Tennis Championship which got underway at the Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium in RG Baruah Sports Complex here today.
In the semifinals, Assam defeated Nagaland 3-0 while Manipur beat Mizoram 3-2.
The women�s team championship, men�s and women�s singles will be played from tomorrow.
In the inaugural function, held in the afternoon, Dr Madhumita Mondal IA&AS Principal Director Audit Maligaon was present as chief guest while secretary of the Assam Table Tennis Association Tridib Duvarah was present as guest of honour. Accountant General (A&E) Assam, Abdul Rouf and welfare officer Tapash Chakraborty were also present on the occasion. Dr Madhumita Mondal formally declared the tournament open.
