AG soccer tourney begins

GUWAHATI, Dec 4 - AG Meghalaya, Odisha, Meghalaya and Jharkhand made it to the semifinals of the IA&AD East Zone Football Tournament.

In four quarterfinals on the opening day today, at Nehru Stadium Meghalaya beat Sikkim 10-1 while at the SAI ground West Bengal beat Assam 4-3 via tie breaker. In the afternoon Jharkhand beat Manipur 3-1 and Odisha beat AG Bihar 4-0.

The tournament was inaugurated by Dr Madumita Mondal IA&AS Principal Director Audit (NF Railway Maligaon) as Chief Guest. Former international footballer Abdul Latif, Abdul Rauf IA&AS Accountant General Assam and Tapash Chakraborty Welfare Officer were present in the opening ceremony as gusts. They were introduce to the players.
