GUWAHATI, Nov 6 � The AG Assam badminton team emerged as the winner of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department East Zone Badminton Tournament held at Shillong.
In the final today the Assam team defeated Accountant General Odisha team 3-1.
L Nandakumar Singh beat Himangshu Verma 21-14, 21-15, Rajkumar Baruah lost to Gurbax Singh 21-11, 18-21, L Nandalumar and Rajeeb Baruah beat Himangshu and Manash 21-13, 21-18. In the last singles Rajeeb Baruah beat Manash Routroy 24-22, 21-18.
The team has qualified for the inter zonal badminton championship to be held at Raipur in the first week of December. The Assam team comprised of Padma Kr Das, Bijoy Kr Barman, Rajeeb Baruah, L Nandakumar Singh, Rajkumar Baruah and Biswajit Ghosh (coach).
