GUWAHATI, April 2 - The new body of the Assam Football Association (AFA) has announced the State team for the final round of the Senior National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy. The final round of the championship will be held at Ludhiana, Punjab from April 8 to 21.
Assam has been clubbed with Maharashtra, Karnataka, Punjab and Sikkim in Group B.
Assam will begin their campaign on April 9 against hosts Punjab at the Guru Nanak Stadium. Two teams from each will qualify for the semifinals of the 10-team final round of the coveted championship.
The selected players are: Bishal Sahu, Khwmdwn Brahma (both goalkeepers); Dipen Moran, Sampow Rongmei, Shyam Narzary, Hiteswar Narzary, Subhakshan Rabha, Udit Bora (all defenders); Shyam Jyoti Pegu, Pulung Daimary, Rakeb Basumatary, Sirandeep Moran, Sagar Hang Limbu, Jianchun Rongmei, Situ Basumatary (all mid fielders); Milan Basumatary, Tulya Das, Akrang Narzary, Bishnu Bordoloi, Ishak Sangma. Head coach: Subir Dey, Assistant coach: Raj Kumar Singha, Manager: Uttam Brahma, Physio: Dr Gyandep Buragohain.
