SHILLONG, April 27 - As part of the ongoing safety audit of high-rises, Meghalaya Government today issued an advisory to high-rise building owners.

The advisory directed that regulations must be strictly followed for structural design as laid down in Meghalaya Building Bye Laws, 2011.

The citizens are advised to always consult an architect, engineer for planning and designing of any building, the advisory said and recommended for use of branded ISI marked steel bars and cement.

In case of existing and old buildings, the owners may get their building examined by architects and engineers to determine the structural safety, keeping in view of codal requirements for seismic Zone V.
