GUWAHATI, Dec 16 � Surashtra in an advantageous position on the second day of the Ranji Trophy Super League match against Assam.
At Kandheri Cricket Stadium, Rajkot today, the host team piled up 233 for nine in their second knock after bundling out Assam for 127 in their first innings.
With a total lead of 246 with one wicket in hand, Saurashtra is in such a position where they have enough opportunity to put pressure on the visiting team.
Team India player Ravindra Jadeja almost single-handedly put his team in command scoring 84 off 132 balls. Apart from Jadeja, S Kotak (29), Jogiyani (26), P Mehta (19), K Makvana (19), JN Shah (18) offered useful contributions to their total. Arlen Konwar today walked away with four victims while Sarupam Purkayastha and Tarjinder Singh took two wickets each.
Now everything will depend on Assam batsmen Dhiraj Jhadav, S Sriram, Amol Mazumdar, Tarjinder Singh and Gokul Sharma. As per the reports, the Rajkot wicket is gradually becoming easy and if the Assam batsmen apply themselves then they may achieve the winning target. But it will be definitely a tough task for Amol and company as the host team has some high class bowlers.
