GUWAHATI, Oct 2 - The Kamrup (Metro) district administration has directed all the Durga Puja organising committees in the city to dismantle the temporary structures constructed during the just-concluded Puja and to clean up their respective areas by October 7.
Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu said the administration will carry out an assessment to find out if any damage to road or other public properties has been done by any of the Puja committees.
If any such things have happened, we will give them a chance to rectify the same and take remedial measures. But if they fail, the responsibility will be fixed on the Puja committee concerned, he said.
He further said an order has also been issued to all the Puja committees to clean up and properly sanitise all the immersion places within the next three days.
We will encourage all the Puja committees which have adhered to the norms and directions issued by the district administration by felicitating them publicly soon, added Dr Angamuthu.
He said the district administration undertook a cleanliness drive at Kasomarighat and around the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Sunday with the help of NDRF, GMC and Home Guards.
