Administration to keep watch on city markets

GUWAHATI, April 28 - Following the sharp escalation in prices of many commodities, including pulses and broiler chicken, at the city markets in recent days, the Kamrup Metro district administration has constituted teams to conduct checks at the markets and inquire into the high prices of essential commodities.

The four teams constituted for this purpose will also look into reports about black marketing at the markets of greater Guwahati region of Kamrup Metro district.

The teams will be headed by assistant commissioners Deepmala Gowala and Pratima Rangpi and circle officers Suswapna Kakati and Oswin Nampui.

They have been directed to physically check the wholesalers and retailers and submit reports to the Deputy Commissioner of the district immediately

Further, all circle officers of the district have been directed to keep a strict vigil on the undue escalation of prices of essential commodities by visiting at least two markets in their respective areas at regular intervals and report back to the administration. � Staff Reporter
