GUWAHATI, Sept 23 - The Kamrup Metro district administration today directed departments and agencies concerned to start repair and renovation of city roads immediately on account of the ensuing Durga Puja festival.
A meeting was held at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro in this regard under the chairmanship of Pulok Mahanta, Additional Deputy Commissioner.
Expressing concern over poor condition of roads, especially due to digging work for laying of water pipelines, Mahanta directed the agencies concerned to immediately fill up such portions. Officials of GAMON India were also directed to complete the repair work by September 30.
The meeting also decided that work on laying of pipelines in the city will remain suspended from October 3 to October 10. U Baruah, Additional DCP of Guwahati Police, and officials of IVRCL, JICA, GAMON and PWD were present at the meeting.
