Adivasi student body�s memo to CM

GAURIPUR, Aug 7 - The Dhubri District Adivasi Students� Union in a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner, Dhubri at his office chamber on Thursday demanded immediate declaration of ST status to the adivasi community, increase of daily allowance from Rs 167 to 350, land to the landless labourers of tea gardens and reservation of posts for adivasi women. The memorandum was signed by Golap Shik Baraik, president of the Dhubri unit, Rajesh Kujur, secretary and Udai Baraik, joint secretary of the student body. The delegation was led by Rajen Horo, vice president of the central body.

The student body also met the newly-appointed SP Ananda Misra and felicitated him on behalf of the student organisation. Tilak Prasad, secretary of the Chapar branch Sahitya Sabha also felicitated the SP and appraised him about the activities of the branch in preserving the unity and brotherhood among all sections of people of the area.
