ADGP to probe youth assault case

GUWAHATI, Nov 23 � ADGP (Law and Order) RM Singh will inquire into the case of assault on a youth by some miscreants on Saturday at Sadilapur of Garigaon area on the outskirts of Guwahati city, an official release stated.

ADGP Singh will inquire into the case and submit a report to the Home and Political Department.

Meanwhile, SSP (City) AP Tewari has informed that the situation was under control and security forces have been deployed there to prevent any untoward incident. Tewari, who is closely monitoring the situation, said that nagarik samitees and village defence parties are working in close tandem to restore complete normalcy in the area. The SSP (City) will also hold a meeting with representatives of nagarik samitees and senior citizens at Sadilapur.

Three youths have been rounded up and they are being interrogated.

Meanwhile, GMCH Superintendent Dr Ramen Talukdar said that the youth Nur Islam from Sipajhar who sustained minor bruises, would be discharged soon.

A separate press release stated that following a directive from the Chief Minister today, the Nagaon Deputy Commissioner Dr P Ashok Babu has asked ADC Amitabh Rajkhowa to probe the incident that took place at Barhampur Blind School recently.

The Deputy Commissioner said the parents have alleged that their son left the school after he was subjected to ragging.

The Deputy Commissioner has directed ADC Rajkhowa to investigate the incident and submit a report within a week. He has also asked the Circle Officer to meet the Principal of the blind school to get first-hand information about the incident.
