GUWAHATI, Mar 13 � An additional section of the Assam Forest Protection Force has been deployed in the Assam State Zoo to protect the wildlife there, the State government said today.
In a written reply to a question by Congress MLA Capt Robin Bordoloi, Minister for Environment and Forests Atuwa Munda said that the Assam State Zoo authority has arranged regular patrolling and monitoring duty in and around the Zoo complex.
�Meanwhile, another section of Assam Forest Protection Force has been deployed and security/protection duties have been intensified. Further, the Assam State Zoo authority has taken action for filling up of four posts of chowkidar and two posts of night chowkidar...,� he said.
He said that six tokay gecko lizards were found missing from the Assam State Zoo on November 16 last year.
