Actual date of results only after lockdown, says SEBA

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, April 9 - Reacting to speculation about announcement of HSLC and AHM results in June or July, the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) has clarified that the actual date of the results can only be declared once the lockdown is over.

SEBA authorities have reassured the students waiting for their results and their guardians that there is no need to panic as 84 per cent evaluation has been completed and the remaining portion will be over soon. They further asserted that SEBA would announce the results well ahead of time.

The results were supposed to be declared in mid-May. However, with speculation about possible extension of the lockdown, some assumptions regarding the result dates also started doing the rounds.

SEBA Chairman RC Jain told The Assam Tribune that though the evaluation process was partly affected by the lockdown, the teachers have informed the Board that it will be completed within a few days after the lockdown is over. He further mentioned that the Board has not given any date or time for the results as being flashed in the social media.

These are unprecedented times and I urge all including the teachers and the students to stay home and stay safe. Regarding the results, teachers from across the evaluation zones have informed us that the remaining portion of unevaluated answerscripts would be covered within two to three days once the lockdown is over. After that, it will require us another 25 to 30 days to announce the results, said Jain in a video message to the students and teachers.

The Board has also asked the teachers to take measures for periodical evaluation of the students as no unit test is being held due to the present crisis. It needs mention here that SEBA has started online classes for mathematics and science through YouTube videos for Class X students.

Unit test papers for both the subjects are also being uploaded online for students. Moreover, I request the teachers to conduct periodical assessment of their students on WhatsApp or through other online mediums. The students must also follow the SEBA link on YouTube so that they are updated on their course curriculum, he added.
