Actress grilled in APSC scam

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Dec 4 - Investigators probing the cash-for-jobs scam in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) today recorded the statements of model-actress Nibir Swapnam for her alleged links with prime accused and former chairman of the Commission Rakesh Paul.

Swapnams alleged link with Paul and her role in the cash-for-jobs scam was doing the rounds for quite some time although police had remained tight-lipped on her alleged involvement.

A team of Dibrugarh police today quizzed her on her alleged involvement in the scam and recorded the statements under the CrPC in her Geetanagar residence. Sources, however, denied recovery of any documents from her house.

Director General of Assam Police Mukesh Sahay confirmed that Nibirs statement has been recorded in regard to her alleged involvement in the case in the interest of the ongoing investigation.

The model-actress had recently denied any involvement in the scam before the media.

Investigators, on Saturday, conducted searches in a number of locations here along with the residence of arrested APSC member Basanta Doley.
