Meanwhile, Meghalaya is exploring the possibility of having COVID-19 positive patients quarantined in their homes or community quarantine centres.

We will look into the possibility of home quarantine for COVID-19 patients, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said after attending a meeting with MLAs from East Khasi Hills district.

Moreover, efforts are also being made to keep COVID-19 patients in community quarantine centres and also increase the number of beds at the COVID care centres in different districts.

The meeting also decided to establish constituency-wise COVID-19 committees, headed by respective constituency MLAs to streamline the fight against the pandemic.

The committees at the constituency levels will coordinate with the already established COVID-19 management committees and the district administrations.

We have decided to set up committees at the constituency level headed by MLAs. The committees will coordinate with the rest of the COVID-19 workers within the constituency for proper coordination between the COVID management committees, district administration, blocks and departments considered, Sangma said.

Similar meetings will be held in other districts of the State in which feedback will be taken from MLAs of those districts in the ensuing days. The meetings will be headed by Cabinet ministers.
