Action sought against fake card holders

By Correspondent

SILCHAR, June 15 - Members of the BJP Cachar district unit have demanded action against fake Food Security card holders in the district.

A delegation of the party met the Deputy Director of Supplies for Cachar, Monoj Bora and handed over a list of fake cards, particularly in Binnakandi area of Lakhipur and also of a Fair Price Shop dealer at Amjurghat Nutun Ramnagar Cooperative society demanding action against the card holders within 15 days.

Audesh Singh, State BJP spokesperson said that there are umpteen instances of corruption in the FSS which surfaced in the district during the Congress era which need to be rectified. The Government has issued an order to all the concerned officials to detect the fake card holders within 15 days and we have handed over concrete examples of the murky state of affairs in the district when the intended beneficiaries are being deprived of the Food Security benefits. There are some dealers who are spreading the rumour that Government has slashed the quantum of rice which is untrue, Singh said adding that because the former State Government failed to submit the subsidy amount to the FCI for the month of May, only 66 per cent of rice meant for the beneficiaries under the scheme could be lifted in the State. But, the new Government has already submitted the subsidy amount for the month of June, Singh informed.
