By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Sept 22 - The Assam Civil Service Officers Association has strongly condemned the incident that took place at Kokrajhar as highlighted in the media where an ACS officer was physically assaulted by the Superintendent of Police, Kokrajhar on the night of September 9 in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar.

The officers body also called for exemplary punishment to the guilty.

The association has welcomed the decision of the State Government to conduct an inquiry through Commissioner, Lower Assam Division and has appealed to the Chief Minister to ensure safety and security of the ACS officers. For the sake of impartial inquiry, both the DC and SP, Kokrajhar should be immediately placed under suspension, it said in a statement.

The special general meeting of the association yesterday also demanded timely submission of the inquiry report and also demanded exemplary punishment to the guilty.

As a mark of protest of the Kokrajhar incident, the association has decided that all ACS officers would perform their duties wearing black badge on September 23.
