ACKS leaders felicitated

DOOMDOOMA, April 7 - Thousands of tea garden employees of the Brahmaputra Valley of Assam have welcomed the new wage settlement for the tea workers which was fixed recently. Besides the wage settlement, the previous promotion agreement of the tea employees has also been upgraded.

According to tea garden employees, this new wage settlement and promotion agreement will give them the highest benefit in comparison to the previous settlements made in the last 60 years. This new wage settlement and the promotion agreement will come in effect from April 1, 2015 as the previous three-year settlement had expired on March 31, 2015. The increased wages as per the new settlement from April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016 will be given as arrear. This new settlement has been made for three years and it will expire on March 31, 2018 . The 4th grade employees who have joined service on or after April 1, 2015 will also be benefited by this settlement.

The general secretary of Asom Chah Karmachari Sangha (ACKS) Girish Chandra Barpatra Gohain and treasurer Biren Adhyapak represented the tea employees in the meeting held for the wage settlement . The tea employees of around 50 tea gardens of Doomdooma circle expressed their gratitude and felicitated their leaders Barpatra Gohain and Adhyapak with a phoolam gamocha, sarai and citation each in a special meeting held under the presidentship of Doomdooma branch ACKS president Bimal Baruah on April 3 at Doomdooma branch ACKS office premises.
