Acid bomb attack victims succumb to injuries

UDALGURI, Oct 15 � Two persons succumbed to Monday�s acid bomb attack near the Orang HS School during the AASAA sponsored 12-hour BTAD bandh. Critcally injured Narad Adhikary (26) and Dipjyoti Kalita (24)were hurriedly taken along with seven others to Tezpur Kanaklata civil hospital first and then again to GMCH but it was reported Friday that Adhikary and Kalita succumbed to their injuries.

Meanwhile, the Udalguri district administration with SS Meenaxi Sundaram, Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri district, in the chair Friday convened an emergency meeting of the leading students organisations of the district and discussed the various aspects of bandhs called by various organizations and appealed to all concerned to maintain restraint in such a case.

The Udalguri district committee of All Bodo Students� Union (ABSU), AASAA, ABTCYSF, AKRSU, AAGSU, AAMSU, AJYCP and AASU expressed grave concern over the tragic incident and prayed to God for the eternal peace of the deceased and speedy recovery of those injured in the acid bomb attack. The press release also condemned the incident and demanded ex gratia to the next of kin of deceased, bearing of expenditure of medical treatment of the injured and judicial inquiry into the incident and exemplary punishment to the accused persons.

It is to be noted that a total of nine passengers of an ASTC undertaking public bus going from Tezpur to Guwahati were injured Thursday morning at Orang under Orang PS when a group of miscreants hurled an acid bomb at the bus during the 12-hour-long AASAA bandh in BTAD.
