GUWAHATI, March 20 - Governor PB Acharya visited the Central Jail, Guwahati on Thursday and interacted with the jail officials and the inmates.
The Governor expressed his concern over the conditions of the inmates and directed the officials to improve the same, an official press release said.
Saying that justice delayed is justice denied, Acharya instructed the officials to initiate steps in consultation with the Government and the judiciary to expedite the disposal of the cases of the under-trials and to ensure the possibility of the release of the prisoners bearing record of good conduct.
The Governor also asked the officials to send the documents related to such matters to him so that he could take up measures with the authorities concerned from his end also.
