Acharya hopeful of early solution to Naga problem

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, Sept 20 - Nagaland Governor PB Acharya is hopeful that a solution to the Naga political issue will come within next two to three months.

He said this in reply to a query by reporters whether the solution to the Naga political issue would come before the Nagaland Assembly election due early next year.

Everybody was hoping that solution would come very soon, he said. I am also hoping that solution would come soon, he added.

Observing that a trust deficit among the political parties in Nagaland has greatly affected the ongoing Naga peace process, the Governor called upon the Naga civil societies and organisations to come forward for a solution to the Naga political issue.

According to a news agency report, the Governor said talks between the Government of India and NSCN-IM were going on and initiatives to start political talks with other Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) were also on. This was a positive development, he stated.

The Governor, however, regretted the kind of politics that had been going on in the State and also the trust deficit among the political parties and groups in the State.

He said this unwanted development has affected the Naga peace process and appealed to the people to take an active role for resolving the issue.
