Ace archer Jayanta hopeful of good show

GUWAHATI, April 23 � World champion Jayanta Talukdar is quite confident of performing well in the Senior National Archery Championship which gets off at the Sarusajai athletic stadium here tomorrow.

Talking to this correspondent, the ace archer said he is happy with his current form. The probables for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games were training at Kolkata and arrived here last evening. Local boy Jayanta opined that on May 1, he will leave for Croatia for the world championship as a member of the Indian team. As Porek has proved to be his hunting ground, Jayanta is hopeful of another medal winning show in the championship which will start on May 4.

In the national meet, Jayanta would represent the Steel Plant Sports Board. As it will be his maiden national level meet on his home ground, he is committed to perform well.

Meanwhile, almost all the affiliated units of the Archery Federation of India have arrived for the championship.

The competition will get off at 8.45 am tomorrow but the meet will be formally inaugurated at 4.30 pm.
