Accoland closed down for 7 days

By Correspondent

AZARA, July 16 - The Kamrup (Metro) administration today closed down the Accoland amusement park situated on the city outskirts at Patgaon under the Azara police station after an inquiry revealed many lapses on the part of the park management.

The inquiry was conducted following the death of a youth in the swimming pool of the park on Sunday.

Rajiv Prakash Baruah, ADC, Kamrup (M), today visited the park and conducted a thorough inquiry inside the park the largest amusement space in the Northeast. During his visit, the ADC found a number of deficiencies inside the park.

Talking to this correspondent, Baruah said that the park was running even without the basic amenities. The park is running without trade licence, skilled and trained lifeguard, fire-safety certificate, pollution-free certificate, annual maintenance certificate, and so on. Our inquiry also found the presence of bacteria in all the water sports events, he said.

Baruah added that the park lacked proper tools and equipment for its functioning.

The ADC ordered the management to rectify the defects within seven days with effect from Thursday failing which the park would not be allowed to run. The ADC was accompanied by Pulak Patgiri, Circle Officer, Azara; Rahul Amin, ACP, Azara PS; and top officials from APDCL, PWD (Building and Electrical), and Fire Service.
