IMPHAL, March 12 � An Assam Rifles trooper accidentally shot himself death on Wednesday while adjusting the 9mm pistol in his possession, police said.
K Ningthar (28) of Hundung village of Manipur�s Ukhrul district was struck by a bullet on his chest and died instantly. After postmortem examination at JNIMS morgue in Imphal, the dead body of the rifleman has been handed over to his family today.
The incident took place yesterday at about 5.30 pm at a post of the 13 Assam Rifles at Kaimai under Nungba police station.
