Accident victims cremated amid huge gathering

DIBRUGARH, April 27 - Several local organisations today turned up to pay their last homage to Dr Sunit Garodia and his wife Nandini Garodia after their mortal remains were brought to their home in Seujpur here. The couple died in a tragic road mishap yesterday near Burapahar while their two children Tanisha Garodia and Tanai Garodia and several others sustained injuries.

Hundreds of mourners and sympathisers who congregated at the residence of the deceased couple at Seujpur near Tirupati mandap expressed solidarity with the bereaved family members as they paid respect during the mass tribute. They also offered prayers for the speedy recovery of the two children, who are undergoing treatment in Guwahati.

The mortal remains of the couple were carried in a procession to the crematorium in Chowkidinghee where their last rites were performed.

ANN Service adds from Sivasagar: The tragic death of Dr Sunit Garodia, a popular doctor of Sivasagar Civil Hospital and his wife Nandini Garodia in a tragic road accident yesterday on NH37 at Kohora was mourned by all in Sivasagar. He with his wife and two sons were travelling in their car to Guwahati when a Jorhat-bound Traveller rammed against it. His grievously injured sons have been undergoing treatment in a Dibrugarh hospital. The doctor and his wife�s bodies were brought to Sivasagar where he worked for the last seven years. The Sivasagar medical fraternity and several organisations paid homage to the deceased couple before their bodies were taken to Dibrugarh.

Dr Rajiv Baruah, Superintendent, Sivasagar Civil Hospital mourning the demise said that the hospital had lost an asset in his death.
