Academic ambience in schools, homes key to success: HSLC toppers

GUWAHATI, June 6 - The academic ambience in schools and homes played a crucial role in harnessing success for the HSLC toppers from the capital city.

Altogether, four students from the city grabbed the third, fourth and ninth position in the HSLC examination, the result of which was declared today.

The third position holder Chaki G Bulton from St Marry's HS School here is particularly grateful to her mother. Acknowledging the support of her teachers, family and friends, Chaki said her mother is always a source of motivation for her.

�I studied for seven to eight hours daily before the exams. Thorough and regular study is the key to my success. One should be focused and dedicated to achieving success in life. There is no alternative to hard work,� she said, adding that she loves to read storybooks.

Bulton is also taking training in martial arts and is currently holding black belt third dan.

She will study in the science stream and pursue her career in the medical field.

Hiyashree Sarma, who secured the fourth position from Dakshin Guwahati Jatiya Vidyalaya, contributed her success to the teachers, family and hard work. She said regular studies are important for students. She will pursue her further studies in the science stream at Cotton University.

�I studied regularly. Before the exams, I studied for six to seven hours,� she said, adding that good atmosphere in schools is very important for motivating the students.

Hemen Kumar Baishya, who taught science in Dakshin Guwahati Jatiya Vidyalaya, said for the first time, a student secured a position from the school in the HSLC examination.

�She is a very bright student from the beginning. All the teachers and school principal Ramesh Chandra Sarma played a crucial role in the success of Hiyashree,� he added.

On the other hand, attributing his brilliant performance to his school, family and hard work, ninth position holder Niraj Khetan from Happy Child High School, Guwahati said he had put in six to seven hours of study daily before the exams.

Niraj who loves to play cricket and other indoor games said he never takes any stress. �I try to enjoy the games to refresh my mind. I did not waste my time on social media or online games. Rather, I used the time to play or read as much as possible,� he added.
