ACA plans for jr cricketers

GUWAHATI, April 24: The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) in its meeting held on April 21 has decided to organise camps and tournaments for the cricketers in the age groups of U-14, U-16 and U-19. From May 1 onwards, open preliminary selection camp for boys U-19 will be held at Guwahati and Maligaon. Players of Headquarter, Central Assam and Northern Assam will attend their camp in Guwahati while camps for Lower Assam, Upper Assam and Southern Assam will be conducted at Maligaon from May 1 to 15.

Accordingly from May 16 onwards, camp will be organised at Guwahati and Maligaon for boys U-16 in the same format. For the Academy camps, initially 40 boys in each age group will be picked and will be divided in two groups. Three teams will be prepared out of these 40 players for the Academy tournaments in both the groups and from the tournaments, 30 players each from both the U-16 and U-19 groups will be shortlisted for State camps.

The ACA will also conduct a 10-day fitness camp for women players from June 1. After that Academy camp for girls U-19 will begin on June 15 and it will be followed by senior women�s camp from July 5 to 20. An exposure tour for women cricketers will also be arranged in the first week of August. � Sports Reporter
