GUWAHATI, July 15 - Former Team India player Sunil Joshi of Karnataka has been named as the chief coach of the Assam Ranji team for the forthcoming season.
The decision was taken in the working committee meeting of the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) held at the ACA�s office in the Barsapara cricket stadium here today with president Himanta Biswa Sarma in the chair.
The meeting also resolved to constitute the Assam Cricket Academy in the line of the National Cricket Academy in order to provide the young players proper training facilities.
The State cricket body has planned to introduce few new tournaments so that players get more opportunities to play competitive cricket.
Devajit Saikia and Muktabul Hussain have been appointed as ACA spokesmen in the meeting.
The selection committee members are: (Senior) Satyagopal Chakraborty, Niranjan Das, Kaustav Kashyap Baruah, Dhruba Sabhapandit. (Junior) Pritom Konwar, Ramit Poul, Navajyoti Mohan, Sujay Dutta Roy. (Women) Manoj Bhagawati, Rita Baidya, Ranji Basnet, Parasmoni Cheleng.
