ABVP observes 67th foundation day

DIPHU, July 10 - Along with the rest of the country, the Karbi Anglong district unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) celebrated its 67th foundation day at Joysing Doloi Auditorium here on Saturday.

Several members of the ABVP from different places of the district participated in the meeting held to mark the occasion. While attending the foundation day celebration, Krisna Kinkar Mahanta, the State Joint Technical Cell of the ABVP, highlighted the formation of the ABVP under the initiative of the RSS activist Balraj Madhok in 1948.

He said that the ABVP is the largest organisation in India having around 3 lakh members. The organisation has been carrying out activities like helping the poor students in the field of education, strengthening the youths and realising their capabilities and vision. Mahanta also urged the ABVP members to extend their cooperation and to strengthen the organisation.

In his speech, Rupsing Teron, EM, KAAC, spoke about the responsibilities needed to be taken by students in their educational fields. It is only education through which everything can be attained, Teron said

The meeting was chaired by Living Timung, president of ABVP, Karbi Anglong unit. Dignitaries like Kakrai Teronpi, Principal, DIET, Diphu, Longbir Engti Kathar, faculty of the Art of Living, Karbi Anglong and former EM Senot Kro, adviser, ABVP, Karbi Anglong Unit, also attended the programme.

The foundation day celebration began with the hoisting of the organisational flag by the ABVP, Karbi Anglong unit president, Living Timung.

At Rangiya: The foundation day of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) was also observed at different places of the locality here on Saturday.

At the AVBP office in Myrara area, the students� body members hoisted the organisational flag in the morning. It was followed by a meeting at the AVBP office where several members and well wishers were present.

In the evening, the AVBP members illuminated 1,000 earthen lamps at places like Swahid Krishak Bhavan, Rangiya Gandhi Mandap, Muraran etc. It is worth mentioning that 70 student members, including 20 girls, under the leadership of Resma Roushan from the AASU, 10 from the SMSS under Partha Pratip Kashyap, 10 from the NSUI under Alakesh Kalita, besides 30 others formally joined the AVBP here on Saturday in a meeting held under chairmanship of Praneswar Kalita.
