ABSU opposed to Govt decision

By Correspondent

TEZPUR, Jan 9 - The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has strongly opposed the Governments move to facilitate the Boro people living outside the BTAD area with a Boro-Kochari Autonomous Council.

In a press note, Khaneswar Boro, general secretary of Sonitpur District Committee of the ABSU said that it is a political conspiracy to sweep the long-pending Bodoland demand under the table and to create division among the Bodos through some so-called leaders of the district having vested interests.

It is to be mentioned here that on January 1, the State Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi, announced that the Bodos living outside the BTAD area will be facilitated with special financial package by creating a Boro-Kochari Autonomous Development Council. Boro stated that the State Government is playing vote-bank politics just ahead of the Assembly polls, which is very unfortunate.

Further reacting to Hagrama Mohilarys declaration of seat sharing with the BJP outside the BTAD, he said, Hagrama Mohilary is not the supreme authority to give a political decision to the Bodo people outside the BTAD area. They will take their own decisions as they are aware of their political responsibilities.

We urge all concerned including Tarun Gogoi, Hagrama Mohilary and the vested circles to remain away from such moves so that the genuine issues for which the Bodos have been fighting for years are fulfilled, the ABSU leader said.
