ABSU meet on Bodoland movement

KOKRAJHAR, March 2 � The All Bodo Students� Union (ABSU) today organised a mass congregation at the Gwjwnpuri paddy field near the UN Academy here on the occasion of the Bodoland Movement Day. The programme was supported by the BPPF, UDPF, PJACBM and NDFB (P). Hundreds of ABSU, BPPF, UDPF, PJACBM and NDFB (P) supporters, carrying banners and posters, joined the programme.

ABSU president Promod Boro, BPPF president Rabiram Narzary, former Rajya Sabha MP UG Brahma, PJACBM leader Jebaram Mushahary, NDFB (P) chairman and secretary Dhiren Boro and Gobinda Basumatary were among others who spoke at the congregation.

ABSU president Promod Boro told reporters that on this day in 1987, late Upendra Nath Brahma started the separate Bodoland Movement and since then, the ABSU has been observing this day in a big way every year. He further said that the ABSU and other like-minded organisations are against the idea of setting up the expert committee, headed by former Union Home Secretary GK Pillai.
