ABSU flays AKRSU (P) stand

By Correspondent

KALAIGAON, Sept 18 - The ABSU has condemned AKRSU (P) leaders recent remark challenging the State Government to arrest ABSU president Pramod Boro while condemning the arrest of KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi.

In a press release issued at Udalguri on September 16, Dipen Boro, vice-president of ABSUs central committee, has requested the AKRSU (P) leaders to refrain from making irrelevant press statements mentioning ABSU and its members.

Dipen Boro said that Pradip Roy, president and Gokul Barman, secretary of AKRSU (P) had issued a press release at Bongaigaon recently. In the release, the AKRSU (P) leaders while condemning the State Government for the arrest of Akhil Gogoi, had dared the Government to arrest ABSU president Pramod Boro for his statements. Criticising the AKRSU (P) leaders for their arrogance, Dipen Boro said that AKRSU (P) leaders must show respect to other organisations of Assam. According to him, ABSU had never patronised any anti-national activities but had launched a peaceful agitation for a separate State of Bodoland.

There is nothing wrong in demanding a separate State for Bodos under the provisions of the Indian Constitution, he said.

Dipen Boro said that ABSU had always shown respect for Koch Rajbongshi people. AKRSU leaders had failed to convince the Government regarding their demands and they must not blame other organisations for it. He requested AKRSU (P) leaders to concentrate more on their activities rather than unnecessarily attacking ABSU leadership.
