KOKRAJHAR, March 29 � The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has reiterated its demand for a separate Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) exam for Bodo medium schools and a clear policy of the Government of Assam for appointment of teachers in Sixth Scheduled areas of the State.
In a joint statement, Promod Boro, president and Jiron Basumatary, secretary of ABSU have criticised the Government for its inapt decision to impose the general TET for appointment of teachers in Bodo medium schools also which will in no way remove the problem being faced by these institutions.
At the same time the duo have strongly denied the possibility to address grievances of Bodo medium schools despite reservations for ST and SC as the appointment of teachers from other medium is not going to serve the purpose for Bodo medium schools. It is unfortunate that many of these schools have been denied of appointment of maths and science teachers since the last 20-25 years, they stated.
Besides both the leaders have opined that there are instances of irregularities in respect of earlier appointments of OBB and contractual teachers while in many cases teachers were appointed recklessly without taking into account the medium of instruction in schools.
However, they have appreciated the endeavour of the Government to appoint meritorious teachers through TET in Assam and demanded a clear policy at a separate examination to be conducted for Sixth Schedule areas, they said.
