Abdul Majid�s death widely mourned

GUWAHATI, Sept 24 - Several organisations and individuals have condoled the death of eminent actor-director Abdul Majid.

The All Assam Students� Union (AASU), in its condolence message, termed his death as an irreparable loss for Assam�s national life. �He strode the State�s cultural spheres like a colossus and enriched it for over half-a-century. His death has created a big void in the State�s cultural realms,� it said.

A delegation of AASU visited the hospital following the news of the maestro�s death to pay homage to the departed soul.

The North East Students� Organisation (NESO) also condoled Majid�s death.

The BJP and the AGP also mourned Majid�s death and conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family members.

Among others who condoled Majid�s death were the Asam Sahitya Sabha, former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Industry Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, actor Adil Hussain, Jyoti Chitraban, Indian People�s Theatre Association, Lawyers� Association, Guwa-hati, Panjabari Senior Citizens� Association, and Octogenarians� Club, Panjabari.
